Bridgewater, NJ- The Somerset Patriots (24-16) defeated the York Revolution (19-19) 2-1 at TD Bank Ballpark on Tuesday evening.
The Patriots got out to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning on an RBI single by Julio Borbon.
The Revolution tied up the game in the top of the fourth inning on a fielder’s choice followed by an error.
Somerset regained the lead in the bottom of the sixth inning on a sacrifice fly by Adam Weisenburger for a 2-1 advantage, which would be the final.
Rick Teasley (2-2) picked up his second straight win, allowing a run on four hits and four strikeouts in six innings pitched.
“The cutter was really working well. We threw it a lot to even counts just to get it off the barrel because these guys swing hard and they kind of ambush a bit,” said Teasley. “I threw some good changeups. I didn’t throw as many sinkers as I usually do, but when it’s working, you don’t change it until you have to make an adjustment.”
Joe Van Meter (1-1) suffered the loss, allowing two runs on ten hits and seven strikeouts in 5.2 innings pitched. Ryan Kelly earned his seventh save of the season with a scoreless ninth inning pitched.
The 2018 Somerset Patriots Season presented by Ford will continue at home with a 5:05 pm double header against the York Revolution on Wednesday, June 13th. The game features Fox Hollow Baseball Bingo and Senior Wednesday. For tickets, visit www.somersetpatriots.com.
