Bridgewater, NJ – The Somerset Patriots (26-23, 76-43) defeated the York Revolution (27-21, 51-67) 6-4 Saturday evening at TD Bank Ballpark in front of a season-high 8,175 fans.
In the top of the third inning center fielder Jose Costanza stole home plate to give York a 1-0 advantage.
The Patriots scored four two out runs in the bottom of the third inning to grab a 4-1 lead. Left fielder Aharon Eggleson blooped a RBI single while first baseman Michael Burgess pounded a three RBI single.
York cut the deficit to 4-3 in the top of the sixth inning as catcher Luis De La Cruz recorded a RBI ground out and Costanza slapped a RBI single.
Catcher Adam Donachie drilled a RBI double to increase the Somerset lead to 5-3 in the ensuing half inning.
The Revolution cut the deficit in half in the top of the seventh inning as first baseman Andres Perez clubbed a RBI sacrifice fly making the score 5-4.
Eggleston smacked a RBI double in the bottom of the seventh inning as the Patriots lead swelled to 6-4.
Matt Zielinski earned the win (7-2) tossing 5.2 innings while allowing three runs. Logan Williamson sustained the loss (7-11) lasting six innings while scattering six runs. Andrew Carignan notched the save (3).
