By Somerset County Freeholder Brian Levine. There is an air of exhilaration in the atmosphere at the Republican National Convention at “The Q,” even if attendees were supporting a different GOP candidate. Seeing delegates from all over America in one location is witnessing our democracy in motion.

Township Councilman Brian Regan (D-At Large) announced his resignation at the July 14 council meeting. Regan, who has been a councilman for eight years, said he was resigning because he is running for a seat on the Somerset County Board of Chosen Freeholders.

Residents on 28 roads in the southern part of the township will have their recycling day changed on July 13. The pick-ups will be made on Mondays rather than Fridays, according to a press release from Somerset County.

The Franklin Township Municipal Youth Services Commission was recently awarded a $5,000 grant from the Somerset County Freeholders. The money will be used for the commission’s Youth Council, Franklin Youth Prevention and Empowerment and Boys Council programs, according to a release about the award.

  Franklin Township officially lost its mayor at 3:10 p.m. on Jan. 6.

The planned closing of two wells in Colonial Park was not mandated by state environmental regulations, as asserted by a Somerset County official, a state spokesman said Nov. 19.
