Bridgewater, NJ- Somerset Patriots ace right-handed pitcher Mickey Storey has had his contract purchased by the Los Angeles Dodgers organization and will report to Double-A.
Storey was the Atlantic League’s leading pitcher this season with a 4-0 ERA, a 0.93 ERA, and 23 strikeouts in 29.0 innings pitched in five games started. He also had a complete game shutout and an opposing batting average of .106 against him.
“Mickey came in here with the desire to start and I think it opened up a lot of doors for him. He did an outstanding job for us. I hope the Dodgers make him a priority in their organization and give him the opportunity to pitch in the Major Leagues once again. Mickey is ready and deserves the chance. We wish him all the best,” said Brett Jodie, Manager of the Somerset Patriots Baseball Club.
Storey brought two years of prior Major League service into his first season with the Patriots. The righty made his Major League debut in 2012 with the Houston Astros, carrying a 3.86 earned run average over 26 relief appearances.
