Joseph Michael Waldner, 55, passed away on July 14 at Saint Peter’s University Hospital, surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Joey was born at Saint Peter’s University Hospital in New Brunswick on October 15, 1962, raised in Highland Park, and eventually settled in Edison. Joey graduated from Highland Park High School Class of 1980 and received his Associate Degree in Business/Marketing from Middlesex County College in 1982. He worked at several trucking companies in the area.
Predeceased by his grandparents, Carlos and Ann Killion and John and Jennie Waldner, Joey is survived by his two beloved daughters, Kaitlyn and Grace at home; his mother, Gloria Killion Waldner of Highland Park; his father, Joseph of Pennsylvania; his sister, Janet and her husband Michael Hamilton of Piscataway; his sister, Jeannine and her husband Richard Stryker of Somerset; his Aunt Kathleen Killion of North Brunswick, three nieces and two nephews and one great nephew, and his very close friend Suzanne Gomes of Edison.
Family and friends may visit from 3-7 p.m. July 18 at Gleason Funeral Home, 1360 Hamilton St.
Funeral services will begin at 10:30 a.m. July 19 at Magyar Reformed Church in New Brunswick. Burial will follow at Van Lieu Cemetery in North Brunswick.
The family extends their thanks to the Saint Peter’s Radiation Oncology Cancer Center staff and physicians that cared for Joey during his illness.
