Week of the People, Inc., (WotP) in partnership with the Somerset Community Action Program (SCAP) and the Hamilton Street Marketing Committee presents a Back-to-School Event from 2-7 p.m. Saturday, August 25, at Naaman Williams Park, 1 Matilda Ave.
This event is focused on bringing about positive change by bringing families together before the start of a new school year. Back-to-School essentials will be provided to children in grades K-12, and many of our local community partners and supporters will be on hand to provide information and resources for parents. This family-friendly event marks the 47th celebration in Franklin Township and we invite the public to help us celebrate “Community in Unity,” which is the longstanding theme of the WotP.
The Back-to-School Event will begin with a plaque ceremony for the Week of the People Recognition Award, in recognition of those who served the community(s) as a leader and/or volunteer.
The rest of the program will be followed by more activities and entertainment produced by Angela “Coach” James of Divas and Gents. The event will also include food vendors, sport competitions, Pony Rides, a water slide and other activities and games to keep children busy and happy. Please be sure to bring your lawn chairs and/or blankets so that you can fully enjoy a fun-filled day in a beautiful park setting.
