York, PA – The Somerset Patriots (21-11) defeated the York Revolution (20-13) 8-3 Wednesday evening from Santander Stadium. These two squads have split the first two games of this three game midweek set.
In the bottom of the second inning York plated a pair of runs to take an early 2-0 advantage. Designated hitter Ofilio Castro drove in a run via a RBI groundout and third baseman Travis Garcia sliced a RBI triple
Somerset scored four runs in the ensuing half inning to take a 4-2 lead. Left fielder Aharon Eggleston stroked a two RBI single, third baseman Corey Smith slapped a RBI double, and first baseman Robbie Widlansky drove in a run via a RBI groundout.
The Patriots added two runs in the top of the fifth inning to increase their lead to 6-2. Right fielder Luis Montanez recorded a RBI double and Widlansky plated a run via a RBI fielder’s choice.
Two additional runs scored for Somerset in the top of the sixth inning making the score 8-2. Scott Kelly scored on a throwing error by first baseman Chad Tracy and Smith tallied a RBI sacrifice fly.
York made the contest 8-3 in the bottom of the sixth inning as Garcia hit a RBI sacrifice fly.
Erik Arnesen (3-2) earned the win as he tossed six innings and allowed just two earned runs. Alarin Quijano (4-2) suffered the lost lasting five innings while surrendering six runs on nine hits.
