Life Story: Peter Sofko, 81; U.S. Navy Veteran, Owned Jersey Home Builders

Mr. Peter Softko passed away May 13 at Bridgeway Care Center in Hillsborough. He was 81 years old.

Mr. Sofko was born in Manhattan and lived in New Brunswick prior to moving to Somerset. He served our country faithfully in the United States Navy and was a member of the VFW Post 2290 in Manville.

He was a carpenter by trade and a member of Local 254. He was the owner of Jersey Home Builders.

Mr. Sofko was a model airplane enthusiast and a Past President of the Middlesex Modelers.

He was pre-deceased by his wife Elizabeth in 2016 and is survived by his daughter Becky Bongiovi and her husband Albert of Somerset.

Visiting will be held from 7-9 p.m. May 16 at the Gleason Funeral Home, 1360 Hamilton St. Military Honors will be issued at 8:45 p.m. to conclude. All other services will take place privately.
