Lancaster, PA – The Lancaster Barnstormers (7-3) crushed the Somerset Patriots (6-4) 10-1 Monday night at Clipper Magazine Stadium. Lancaster won three of the four games in the series.
In the top of the second inning designated hitter Ty Wright blasted a solo home run (1) to give the Patriots an early 1-0 advantage.
Catcher James Skelton clubbed a grand slam (1) in the ensuing half inning to put the Barnstormers in front 4-1.
The Barnstormers plated three more runs in the bottom of the fourth frame to take a 7-1 lead. Third baseman Casey Frawley and second baseman Yusuke Kojimoto tallied RBI singles while right fielder Greg Golson pounded a RBI double.
Lancaster tacked on three more runs in the home half of the sixth inning making the contest 10-1. Frawley (1) and Skelton (2) hit back-to-back home runs while center field Blake Gailen slapped a RBI double.
Brian Grening (1-0) earned the win tossing six solid innings allowing three hits and just one run. Gary Moran (0-1) suffered the loss hurling four innings allowing seven runs on nine hits.
