The Franklin High School boys’ and girls’ soccer teams won their opening rounds in the Somerset County tournament October 10 in back-to-back games in Warrior Stadium. Not only did both teams win, but they won by identical scores: the boy’s bested Immaculata 6-0 while the girls’ topped Manville, 6-0.

The first weekend in October saw a number of events occur in Franklin. On October 7, the Franklin High School senior field hockey players were celebrated with their senior night.

The Franklin High School field hockey team celebrated its seniors October 7 with a shutout of visiting Piscataway, 2-0. Senior Samantha Gordon and Junior Olivia Nayak accounted for all of Franklin’s scoring during the match.

Franklin High School field hockey team in action. (File photo). Both Franklin High School girls’ teams that played on October 3 won their matches, while the boys’ soccer team fell to Pingry, 7-0. The girls’ soccer team bested Voorhees 3-2 in overtime, while the field hockey team notched its first victory of the season with a 1-0 win over Koinonia.

The Franklin High School football homecoming game was spoiled September 30 by the North Brunswick Raiders, who furthered their undefeated season by topping the Warriors 34-24. North Brunswick tallied all of their points before Franklin scored in the third quarter. The warriors then completed the two-point conversion.

The Franklin High School Warriors field hockey team continues to search for its first win of teh season, falling on September 29 to Pingry, 11-0. With the loss, Franklin falls to 0-6 overall, and 0-5 in the Skyland Conference.

Both Franklin High School varsity soccer teams saw action on September 21, but ended up with different results. The girls’ team blanked Phillipsburg 5-0, while the boys’ team fell to Hillsborough 3-2.

The Franklin High School field hockey and girls’ tennis teams lost their matches on September 20. The tennis team, playing at home, fell to Hillsborough, 5-0.

The Franklin High School girls’ soccer team earned their first win of the season on September 19, topping St. Thomas Aquinas 8-0. Franklin scored three goals in the first period and five goals in the second.

The Franklin High School girls’ tennis team fell to undefeated Colonia, 5-0, on September 16. With the loss, Franklin is 1-5 overall and 1-4 in the Skyland Conference.
