Life Stories: Robert Albert Regan, 82, Korean War Navy Vet

robert-reganRobert Albert Regan, 82, passed away Nov. 9 at St. Peters Hospital in New Brunswick.

Born in Metuchen to Blackie and Nicolene (Peterson) Regan, Bob graduated from Metuchen High School, where he was a star athlete. During the Korean War, he served in the Navy and went around the world aboard the U.S.S. Tarawa, receiving numerous medals and commendations. During his more than 40-year career, Bob worked in several capacities for the Belko Corporation, retiring as Vice President in 1996. He was a long time member of the American Legion and Moose Lodge in Somerset. An avid sports fan, he especially loved to fish and golf.

Predeceased by his son, Scott Regan in 2001, and by his brother, Donald Regan, Bob is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Doris (Terzino) Regan; by their beloved children: Katherine Piell and her husband Fred of Allentown, NJ, Barbara Knapp and husband John of Hillsborough, and Linda Regan and boyfriend Michael Swayne of Somerset; by his cherished grandchildren Eric, Melanie, Peter, Cassandra, Chelsea, and Collin, and by his great-grandson Preston.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Nov. 13 at the Gleason Funeral Home, 1360 Hamilton St. The funeral will begin at 10:30 a.m. Nov. 14 at St. Matthias Church, 168 JFK Boulevard, followed by burial in St. Peter Cemetery in New Brunswick.
