Planning Board Approves 200,000-Square-Foot Warehouse

An application for a more than 200,000-square-foot warehouse on Schoolhouse Road was approved April 7 by the Planning Board.

The building at 17 Schoolhouse Road currently houses the New Jersey Chinese Community Center, and is the former home of the Central Jersey College Prep Charter School.

The plan is to demolish the existing 90,000-square-foot structure and construct a 204,772-square-foot warehouse.

The warehouse, which will be designed for two tenants, will also hold 16,007-square-feet of office space.

There will be 138 parking spaces for cars, 29 trailer parking spaces, and 44 loading docks.

The developer will also plant 245 trees and a variety of shrubs, the Board was told.

A sidewalk will also be installed along Schoolhouse Road.

David von Stappenbeck, the project’s architect, told the Board that the warehouse’s roof has been designed to be able to hold solar panels, if the tenants want them.
