It came down to a rubber game, but the squad from Piazza Orsillo left no doubt on Aug. 2 as to who the Over 50 Softball League champions were in their 14-2 rout of the Resta’s Car Care squad.
The Over 50 Softball League is comprised of four teams; in addition to those from Orisllo’s and Resta, there’s a team from Canal Walk and there’s the A Team.
The teams play 18 games during the season, and they all participate in the playoffs, which are best-of-three rounds.
Orsillo and Resta’s team made it to the championship round, with each team taking a game, setting up the Aug. 1 showdown at Lower Inman Park off John F. Kennedy Boulevard.
