Camden, NJ – The Somerset Patriots (16-8) rallied past the Camden Riversharks (7-18) to win 3-2 Tuesday evening from Campbell’s Field. This was Somerset’s fourth win in a row. Somerset leads the 2014 Turnpike Series 6-2.
In the top of the third inning center fielder Cory Harrilchak bounced into a double play but a run scored as Somerset took an early 1-0 lead.
Camden tied the contest at 1-1 in the bottom of the fifth inning. Second baseman Jonny Tucker made a fielding error that plated shortstop Zack MacPhee.
The Riversharks took the lead in the bottom of the sixth inning when center fielder Alex Hudak crushed a solo home run (3) to make the score 2-1.
Harrilchak evened the score at 2-2 in the top of the eighth inning as he smacked a solo home run (1).
Somerset took the lead in the top of the ninth inning as left fielder Robbie Widlansky socked a go ahead RBI double to put the Patriots in front 3-2 which would be the final.
Mike DeMark (3-1) earned the win in relief. Matt Gorgen (0-1) suffered the loss in relief. Jon Hunton notched the save (6) pitching a scoreless final frame.
