July 16 will be busier than usual for the Franklin Food Bank. In addition to distributing food to Franklin families in need, they are holding two fundraising events.
The fourth annual Golf fore Groceries will be held at Royce Brook Golf Club in Hillsborough. Golfers enjoy 18 holes on the exclusive West Course, in-game contests, and refreshments. The cost is $175 per player and includes dinner at The Palace in Somerset.
Gathering for Groceries, the evening’s event, is hosted by The Palace, 333 Davidson Avenue in Somerset. For just $50, guests enjoy live entertainment, a premium open bar, cocktail reception, silent auction, 50/50, and buffet dinner prepared by The Palace’s Executive Chef, Justin DiBianca.
“As summer approaches and people start taking vacations, unfortunately hunger does not,” says Frank Hasner, Executive Director at the food bank. “Children who’d normally receive free breakfast and lunch in school may go without meals at home.”
“Every $1.50 raised allows the food bank to provide three full meals for a hungry child”, notes Donor Development Director Mike Hicks. “We are neighbors helping neighbors,” he adds. “Community support is vital and ensures that everyone who needs help gets it. Our mission is to serve the food needs of our local community in an atmosphere of dignity and respect.”
Many sponsorship opportunities are still available. Early event sponsors include The Palace, Evolution of Smooth (eos), Stop & Shop, Parker McCay, PSE&G, Capehart Scatchard, and Melillo Consulting.
