The Franklin High School football Warriors scored first in their season-opener against Hillsborough Sept. 12, but the Raiders scored 31 unanswered points in their 38-23 victory.
Naj’ear Brown stretched out in the end zone after a 3-yard run to put the Warriors up 7-0. But two long passes and a setup after a blocked Warrior punt led to three scores for the visitors, who never looked back.
Franklin didn’t go easily, though. Isaiah Byant scored twice in the fourth quarter – on a fumble recovery in the end zone and after catching a 21-yard pass – and Franklin forced a safety to cut the Raiders’ lead to 15.
The Warriors play Union at home, 7 p.m., on Sept. 19.
