FHS Sports: Girls’, Boys’ Bowling Teams Roll Over Woodbridge

The Franklin High School girls’ and boys’ bowling squads defeated Woodbridge High School by identical 3-1 scores Jan. 14 at Brunswick Zone Carolier Lanes, North Brunswick.

The boys won the first and third games of their match with scores of 1,088-788 and 1,031-928, respectively. The team barely lost the second game by a score of 987-971.

The girls took the first two games of their match by scores of 836-792 and 720-710, respectively, and lost the third game by a score of 746-701.

The wins boost the boys’ record to 8-3, and improve the girls’ record to 3-7.

The boys’ win was powered by senior Sergey Eccles combined 738 (256, 225, 257), followed by sophomore Dylan Coker’s 618 (211, 193, 214) and senior Nicholas Chow’s 610 (225, 172, 213).

Senior Muntasir Cooper rolled a combined 565 (235, 192, 138); senior Kevein Greene recorded an even 500 (159, 189, 152) and junior Joseph Thigpen scored a 466 (161, 110, 195).

The girls’ team’s effort was led by senior Alexis Chyz’ 555 (220, 179, 156) and junior Alanna Merrit’s 549 (211, 163, 175).  Freshman Shyann Hester rolled a 424 (142, 127, 155); senior Brianna Barfied scored a 398 (126, 150, 122); freshman Melissa White rolled a 323 (137, 101, 85) and junior Samierra Smith registered a 279 (108, 78, 93).
