The Franklin High School girls’ and boys’ bowling teams were victorious Jan. 18 against Watchung Hills, with the boys besting their opponents 5-2 and the girls blanking their opponents 7-0.
The boys’ effort was led by sophomore Dylan Coker with a 600 (178, 174, 248), followed by senior Kevin Greene, who rolled a total 595 (227, 210, 158).
Senior Nicholas Chow scored a combined 564 (198, 173, 193); senior Muntasir Cooper rolled a 557 (191, 178, 188); senior Sergey Eccles totaled 539 (203, 146, 190), and junior Joseph Thigpen rolled a 504 (141, 164, 199).
The boys won the first and third games of the match by respective scores of 997-806 and 1,018-922. The boys lost the second game, 946-899.
With this win, the boy’s upped their record to 10-3.
The girls’ win was powered by junior Alanna Merrit’s 577 (170, 204, 203). She was followed by senior Alexis Chyz’ 522 (207, 137, 178); senior Nadia Pittman’s 380 (149, 127, 104) and freshman Malayah Jennings’ 316 (140, 120, 56).
Also contributing were senior Brianna Barfield with 277 (0, 147, 130); freshman Shyann Hester with 268 (152, 116, 0) and freshmen Adrianna Santiago and Sara Goyal with single-game scores of 107 and 95, respectively.
The girls’s win bettered their record to 5-8.
