Four Franklin High School wrestlers – Ralph Normandia (195), Mike Okolo (220), Chase Smith (106) and Mike Fagg-Daves (170) won their matches in the Warriors’ loss to Hunterdon Central Regional High School Jan. 29, 47-22. Results of the matches follow:

It all started to fall apart in the third quarter. The Franklin Township JV boys’ basketball team came out shooting Jan. 28 against the Hillsborough Raiders, scoring 10 points before the visitors could get on the board.

One might not think it possible to see a positive in an 0-12 season, but Franklin Township High School boys’ varsity basketball coach Daryn Plummer can. “We’ve been able to get our younger players some time, some varsity experience,” he said, after the Warrior’s 60-26 loss to Hillsborough High School’s Raiders. “That’s been a plus.”

Although they kept it neck-and-neck in the first half, the Franklin Middle School boys’ basketball team ran out of steam in the second half, falling to JP Case Middle School of Flemington 58-44. The Franklin High School girls’ indoor track captured the Skylands Conference Championship Jan. 25 at Lehigh University, Bethlehem, Pa. The boys’ team finished second, losing to Hunterdon Central High School.

The Franklin Township High School wrestling team came up empty at a three-way match Jan. 25 in Watchung Hills. Below are the match results, by weight class:

After scoring 16 unanswered points in the first quarter, the Franklin Middle School boys’ basketball team coasted to a 38-27 win over Branchburg Central Middle School on Jan. 24. Franklin increased that lead to 31-5 at the half.

The match started well for the Warriors, but Bridgewater-Raritan High School came back to take the last two of three games to win the contest, held at Majestic Lanes in Hopelawn. Senior Nicholas Chow led his team with 626 pins (243, 194, 189), followed by senior Sergey Eccles with 572 pins (196, 194, 182).

The Franklin Middle School girls’ basketball team had to fight for it Jan. 23, but ended up with a win over William Annin Middle School of Bernards, 47-40. The Franklin girls were down by two points at the half, but grabbed the lead with a 12-2 run in the third quarter and never looked back.

The Franklin High School girls’ and boys’ bowling teams were victorious Jan. 18 against Watchung Hills, with the boys besting their opponents 5-2 and the girls blanking their opponents 7-0. The boys’ effort was led by sophomore Dylan Coker with a 600 (178, 174, 248), followed by senior Kevin Greene, who rolled a total 595 (227, 210, 158).
