FHS Sports: Boys’ Varsity Basketball Falls To Hillsborough

1-28-14 vs Hillsborough06One might not think it possible to see a positive in an 0-12 season, but Franklin Township High School boys’ varsity basketball coach Daryn Plummer can.

“We’ve been able to get our younger players some time, some varsity experience,” he said, after the Warrior’s 60-26 loss to Hillsborough High School’s Raiders. “That’s been a plus.”

“You just have to build it year-by-year,” he said.

Hillsborough took an early lead in the first quarter, mainly with foul shots, and increased that to a 16-5 lead after the first quarter.

By halftime, Hillsborough’s lead was 27-8, and the Warriors never really posed a threat.

Entering the fourth quarter down 49-16, Franklin was only able to score 10 more points before the final buzzer.

“We just struggle with scoring,” Plummer said. “That’s been our struggle all year long.”

Plummer said his team’s size disadvantage also forced them to cede the the glass to Hillsborough.

“We’re small,” he said. “That made us have to put an emphasis on boxing out.”
