The third annual “BeerFest” fundraiser for the Franklin Food Bank is set for noon to 5 p.m. April 1 at Suydam Farms, Route 27 and Skillmans Lane. Formerly known as “Going for the Green,” the fundraiser’s name was changed because of the misconception that it was connected with St. Patrick’s Day, according to the food bank’s web site.

The Franklin Food Bank’s 28th annual Tour de Franklin Charity Bike Ride is set for April 30. The first bike ride of the season for many cyclists, the Tour de Franklin is also a day when avid cyclists and the Franklin community join together for a common mission, to fight local hunger through supporting the Franklin Food Bank.

The second annual “Hoops for Troops Basketball Classic” fundraiser is set for Jan. 28 at Franklin High School. Sponsored by the Franklin Athletics Booster Club, proceeds from the event will go to U.S. veterans.
