Blue Crabs Edge Patriots With 2-1 Win

Bridgewater, NJ – The Southern Maryland Blue Crabs (11-26) defeated the Somerset Patriots (20-17) 2-1 at TD Bank Ballpark on Tuesday evening.

The game remained scoreless until the bottom of the sixth inning when Will Kengor laced an RBI single to put Somerset on the board.

Patriots starter David Kubiak pitched seven scoreless innings to extend his team record consecutive scoreless innings pitched streak to 33.2 before the Blue Crabs got to him in the eighth inning.

An RBI single by Frank Martinez and a sacrifice fly by Cory Vaughn put Southern Maryland up 2-1, which would be enough for the win.

Craig Stem (3-2) picked up the win, allowing a run on seven hits and six strikeouts in seven innings pitched. Kubiak (4-1) suffered the loss, allowing two runs on five hits and ten strikeouts in eight innings of work. Ryan Chaffee earned his first save of the season with a scoreless 1.1 innings pitched.
