Students and staff involved with Franklin High School’s production of “Jekyll & Hyde” have been nominated for a variety of “Rising Star Awards” from the Paper Mill Playhouse of Millburn.
Created in 1996, the Rising Star Awards is a statewide competition designed to “encourage and reward exceptional accomplishments in the production of high school musical theatre,” according to the awards’ Web site. Awards are given in the categories of performance, design, direction, choreography, technical production and overall production excellence.

- Outstanding Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role: Ezekial Robinson as “John Utterson”
- Outstanding Achievement in Music Direction: Timothy Walton and Fred Oltarzewski
- The Educational Impact Award
Honorable Mentions:
- Outstanding Overall Production of a Musical
- Outstanding Performance by a Featured Ensemble Group: “The Red Rat Girls”
- Outstanding Performance by an Orchestra
- Outstanding Achievement by a Teacher or Outside Director: Timothy Walton
- Outstanding Costuming Achievement: Joanne Segear
Students are competing for cash and scholarships to Paper Mill Playhouses’ Summer Musical Theater Conservatory.
