Life Story: Rose Roginski, 87; Former Somerset Resident

Rose Roginski passed away on Aug. 17 at the Bridgeway Care and Rehabilitation Center in Hillsborough. Born on December 26, 1930, she was 87 years old.

Mrs. Roginski was born in Newark and grew up in the city before moving to Harrison, Somerset, Whiting and finding her final residence at the Avalon Assisted Living Facility in Hillsborough. She attended East Side High School in Newark and worked for RCA as a production worker in their Tube Division, for John Dusenbury Company as a telephone operator, and finally for Amaretto Disaronno in Edison’s Raritan Center as a line worker before retiring.

She was a dedicated Jeopardy fan and an avid reader. Mrs. Roginski enjoyed ceramics, crocheting, and listening to Opera, Barbara Streisand and Josh Groban, as well as watching her favorite movie, The Godfather. She was a wonderful cook and baker known best for her cheesecake, baked ziti and pistachio cake.

She was pre-deceased by her husband Joseph in 1987 after 33 years of marriage, as well as her beloved poodles, Snow, Columbia, Micki, and Appolo. She was also predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Maria Larangeira, her brothers Horace, Fernando, and Joseph Larangeira Jr and a sister, Rachel Larangeira.

Mrs. Roginski is survived by her brothers Albert Larangeira and his wife Rose of Somerset and Anthony Larangeira and his wife Leslie of Toms River, as well as a plethora of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.

A memorial mass will be held in the near future at St. Matthias R.C. Church in Somerset, followed by burial at Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Montclair.
