The Franklin Middle School girls’ basketball team had to fight for it Jan. 23, but ended up with a win over William Annin Middle School of Bernards, 47-40.
The Franklin girls were down by two points at the half, but grabbed the lead with a 12-2 run in the third quarter and never looked back.
Coach Nicole Monfasani said the team started the game a little sloppy, but pulled it together when it counted.
“They came off a week of not playing with all the snow days,” she said.
After the third quarter, she said, the team “started moving to the ball, picking up the defense, and they were able to get back in it.
Leading the scoring was Kayla Jackson with 15 points and Serena Jackson with 10 points.
Camille Gray and Diamond Miller had 8 points each, and Tiana Jackson had 4 points. Luese Ufuah had 2 points.
The win pushes the squad’s record to 10-2.
