The Franklin Township Food Bank will soon be the beneficiary of a $1,400 donation from the Somerset branch of Clinton-based Unity Bank.
The donation is one of 15 bank employees will make to food pantries in the region and in Easton, Pa. In total, the bank and its employees raised $21,000 for the food pantries.
The money was donated by bank employees and matched by the bank.
Unity Bank’s Somerset branch is located in the Cedar Grove Lane shopping center.
Check distribution began earlier this month and will continue for the next several weeks, according to a press release from the bank.
“Particularly during the holidays, it’s important that we make every effort to support these important community organizations,” Unity Bank President and CEO James A. Hughes said in the release. “I am very proud of the generosity our employees displayed during this annual fundraising campaign as it speaks to their willingness to help the people in the communities where we do business. As a community bank, part of our mission is to support those less fortunate and this fundraising campaign is just one example of our commitment in this area.”
