New Britain, CT – The Somerset Patriots (38-30, 76-72) clinched the Second Half Liberty Division Championship by defeating the New Britain Bees (34-34, 70-68) 5-1 Friday evening at New Britain Stadium. The Patriots have qualified for the postseason four straight years and 13 times in the franchises 19 years of existence. Somerset will battle the Long Island Ducks in the Liberty Division Series that begins Wednesday, September 21st at TD Bank Ballpark for a best-of-five series.
“All year we have been grinding and tonight we accomplished the first step of the many goals our team has,” said Director of Player Personnel Jon Hunton. “We had that remarkable 13-0 start, but we had a roller coaster season since, but this is a definitely a high moment and every player and coach earned it.”
