The Franklin Reporter & Advocate Eight Villages, One Community
The 5th Annual CanalFest, featuring music, crafts and food, is set for 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 17 at East Millstone Park, Amwell Road and Market Street.
A fundraiser for the Franklin Township Food Bank, the event features live musical performances by Motor City Revue, Swing Sabrosa, The VooDUDES, Screamin Rebel Angels, Ms. Laurie Ann and the SaddleTones, The Brummy Brothers, American Beauty and more, according to a press release about the event.
Among the arts and crafts vendors expected to exhibit during the day are Oddgirl Enterprises’ repurposed bottle-art jewelry and tea lights, Greencow Studio hand crafted soaps, David Hartz Photography, local painter Kathy Grbac and potters Heidi Kass and Mickie Marshall-Jacoby.
“CanalFest provides a unique opportunity for residents to come together and share in the gifts of our community, to eat good food, appreciate arts and crafts, enjoy music, get to know our neighbors, and help other neighbors through support of the Food Bank,” CanalFest co-chair Patti Sofran said in the release.
The event is organized by the CanalFest Community Collaborative. A $10 suggested donation for admission will benefit the Food Bank.
Funding for the expanded line-up and outreach was made possible, in part, by a grant from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts/Department of State through funds administered by the Somerset County Cultural & Heritage Commission through the State/County Partnership Local Arts Grant Program, according to the release.
