Life Story: Kofi Nantwi, 67; Franklin Park Resident

Kofi Nantwi passed away on September 24 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick. He was 67 years old.

Mr. Nantwi was born in Kumasi, Ghana, where he completed his primary, secondary and university education. He then furthered his education at Clarion University, in Pennsylvania and St. John’s University Queens, New York where he earned Master’s Degrees in Library Science / Technology respectively.

For almost three decades, Mr. Nantwi was employed by the Montclair Public Library, retiring in 2012. Before his untimely demise, he worked on a part-time basis in the library at Morris County College.

Mr. Nantwi lived in Franklin Park for the past 19 years and was a devout parishioner of Saint Augustine of Canterbury Church in Kendall Park.

He was pre-deceased by his parents, Emanuel Koffie and Veronica Ama Oduro, and a sister, Ms. Lydia Ben Koffie, who passed away in 2009.

Mr. Nantwi is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Georgina Aidoo Nantwi, of Franklin Park; three brothers, three sisters along with many adopted children, nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren, cousins and extended family.

Visiting will be held from 4-8 p.m. October 11 at the Gleason Funeral Home, 1360 Hamilton St. Funeral services will begin at 9:15 a.m. October 12 at the Gleason Funeral Home, followed by a 10 a.m. funeral mass at St. Augustine of Canterbury Church on Henderson Road in Kendall Park.

Committal services will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in South Brunswick.
