A 70-year-old township man and retired math teacher has been released from Somerset County Jail following his Feb. 23 arrest on child pornography related charges.

Kent Kollmer of Norris Road in Somerset was released through a court order, according to court documents.

Kollmer taught math for nearly 40 years in New Brunswick High School, retiring in 2010, according to records on file with the state.

Kollmer was arrested at his home following an investigation by detectives in the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Special Investigations/Computer Crimes Unit, according to a press release from the prosecutor’s office.

The investigation began after the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) notified authorities that Kollmer had uploaded to the Internet sexually explicit images of children under the age of 18, according to the release.

At about 6 a.m. on Feb, 23, prosecutor’s detectives, Special Agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the New Jersey State Police and the Franklin Township Police Department executed a search warrant at Kollmer’s home, where they found child pornographic images, the release said.

Detectives seized multiple digital devices for further computer forensic examination, according to the release.

Kollmer was charged with 3rd Degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child and 3rd Degree Possession of Child Pornography.
