York, PA – The York Revolution (1-0, 42-29) defeated the Somerset Patriots (0-1, 46-24) 3-2 Monday night from Santander Stadium.
In the bottom of the first inning right fielder Johan Limonta stroked a two RBI single to give York an early 2-0 advantage.
Somerset cut the deficit in half in the top of the third inning as first baseman Ty Wright sliced a RBI double to make the score 2-1.
The Revolution added a run in the bottom of the eighth inning as first baseman Chad Tracy laced a RBI single increasing the lead to 3-1.
In the top of the ninth inning second baseman Scott Kelly plated a run via a RBI groundout to make the contest 3-2 which would be the final score.
Logan Williamson (2-2) earned the win tossing five innings while allowing one run on seven hits. Matt Maloney (4-4) suffered the loss hurling five frames while surrendering two runs on four hits. Rommie Lewis notched the save (18) as he pitched the ninth inning.
The 2014 Somerset Patriots season presented by Ford will continue on the road until Thursday, July 10th when the Patriots return to TD Bank Ballpark for a 7:05 p.m. game against the Sugar Land Skeeters.
