Four new township police officers were sworn in at the May 27 Township Council meeting.
All of the officers have prior experience, a decision that Police Chief Lawrence Roberts said was made to save the cost of sending new recruits to the Somerset County Police Academy.
The new officers will be assigned to patrol duty, Roberts said.

Kevin Frizzioloa has seven years’ experience, coming from the Ocean Gate Police Department, Roberts said. He is also studying at Farleigh Dickinson University.

David Cruz comes from Seaside Heights Police Department, where he worked for two years, and is also a 5-year veteran of the New Jersey National Guard, Roberts said. Cruz has a B.A. in criminal justice from Richard Stockton College of New Jersey.
Luke Lanno was an officer for one year at the Lakehurst Police Department, and is studying criminal justice at Ocean County Community College.

Ronald Risden is a 6-year veteran of the Pine Beach Police Department, Roberts said.
After the ceremonies, Roberts thanked the council for “allowing me to replace all the bodies as people retire and try to keep the staffing at the current level.”
He also praised all of the department members.

“Everybody’s doing a good job,” he said.
