Two Minetta Drive women were arrested Oct. 25 on drug related charges after police found more than $17,000 worth of marijuana in the basement of their home.
Taken into custody, police said, were Donna Walters, 44, and Sheena Brown, 23.
Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Organized Crime Task Force detectives and township police executed a search warrant at the house at about 6:15 p.m., police said.
Police said Walters unsuccessfully tried to get away through a basement door as they entered the house.
Authorities seized about 3 1/2 pounds of marijuana – which police said was valued at about $17,500 – two digital scales and a drug ledger from a table in the basement, police said. Also seized were “drug folds,” rubber bands, a sifter and other drug paraphernalia, police said.
Walters was found with $470 on her, police said.
Police said Brown was apprehended outside the home and was found to be in possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
Walters was charged with 3rd Degree possession of a CDS with intent to distribute and possession of drug paraphernalia, a disorderly persons offense.
Brown was charged with the disorderly persons offenses of possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Brown was released on her own recognizance, police said. Walters was remanded to the Somerset County Jail, Somerville, in lieu of $25,000 cash bail.
