Waldorf, MD – The Somerset Patriots (15-7) shutout the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs (14-10) 2-0 Monday evening from Regency Furniture Stadium. The game was called in the seventh inning due to rain. The Patriots won three of the four contests in the four game wrap around weekend series.
In the top of the fourth inning right fielder Chris Marrero slugged a home run (4) to give Somerset a 1-0 advantage.
The Patriots plated an insurance run in the top of the seventh inning when second baseman Casey Stevenson committed a throwing error that scored first baseman Thomas Neal to make the score 2-0.
Mickey Storey earned his Atlantic League leading fourth win (4-0) tossing six scoreless innings while allowing just one hit. Brian Baker endured the loss (1-1) hurling six innings while allowing one run on six hits.
