Bridgewater, NJ- The Somerset Patriots defeated the Long Island Ducks 5-4 at TD Bank Ballpark on Monday evening.
Long Island took an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first on an RBI single by Adam Bailey.
Adam Donachie hit an RBI double in the bottom of the first to give the Patriots a 2-1 lead.
The Ducks tied up the game on an RBI single by Bailey in the top of the third inning to make the score 2-2.
Brendan Harris hit a homerun (1) in the top of the fourth to put the Ducks up 3-2.
Somerset answered with a run on a Damaso Espino RBI double in the fourth inning to knot the game up 3-3.
The Patriots regained the lead with two runs in the bottom of the sixth on a Jonny Tucker two run single for a 5-3 advantage.
Long Island cut the lead to 5-4 with a run in the top of the seventh inning on an RBI fielder’s choice that allowed Bailey to reach first safely.
Patriots starter Derell McCall (3-2) picked up the win, allowing three runs on seven hits in six innings pitched. Ducks starter Jared Lansford (2-3) suffered the loss, allowing five runs on eight hits in six innings pitched. Jon Hunton earned his 14th save of the season with a scoreless ninth inning pitched.
