Lancaster, Pennsylvania – The Somerset Patriots (34-23) dropped game one of Wednesday’s doubleheader to the Lancaster Barnstormers (20-36) 5-2 at Clipper Magazine Stadium.

The game was scoreless through the first three innings before the Patriots broke through in the fourth. A one-out RBI triple off the right-center field fence from Dario Pizzano got Somerset on the board before a Michael Ohlman RBI single later in the inning made the lead 2-0.

Lancaster responded the very next half-inning on back-to-back two-out home runs to take the lead. It was Joe Terdoslavich (11) who tied the game with a two-run home run before K.C. Hobson (10) put the Barnstormers in front with a solo shot.

The ‘Stormers added two more runs in the bottom of the fifth on a Michael Martinez sacrifice fly and a Caleb Gindl two-out RBI single.

Somerset ultimately stranded 11 runners on base in the ballgame, including two left on in the third, three left on the fourth, two in the fifth and three more in the sixth inning.

Matt Marksberry (W, 3-3) earned the win after tossing one and one-third scoreless innings. Logan Darnell (L, 1-1) allowed three runs over three and two-thirds innings to take the loss. Cody Eppley (S, 10) got the save with a scoreless seventh inning.

The Patriots and Barnstormers continue their four-game series with the nightcap of Wednesday’s day-night doubleheader. Lefty Thomas Dorminy (2-4, 2.98 ERA) takes the mound for the Patriots in game two against Lancaster southpaw Buddy Baumann (2-6, 4.20 ERA). First pitch is set for 7:00 p.m. at Clipper Magazine Stadium.
