Lancaster, PA – The Somerset Patriots (33-14) defeated the Lancaster Barnstormers (19-29) 8-5 Friday evening at Clipper Magazine Stadium.
In the top of the first inning left fielder Aharon Eggleston hammered a two run home run (1) to give Somerset a 2-0 advantage.
Catcher Adam Donachie slugged a home run (2) to make the score 2-0 in favor of Somerset in the top of the second inning.
The Patriots plated four runs in the top of the fourth inning to grab a 7-0 lead. Donachie and shortstop Robert Andino each socked RBI sacrifice flies while designated hitter Thomas Neal spanked a two RBI double.
Lancaster scored five times in the bottom of the eighth inning to trim the deficit to 7-5. Designated hitter Dan Coury drew a bases loaded walk while first baseman Kevin Rivers slugged a grand slam (5).
In the top of the ninth inning Neal hit into a RBI fielder’s choice to make the score 8-5 which would be the final.
Randy Boone earned the win (2-1) tossing five scoreless innings. Dan Osterbrock sustained the loss (3-3) as he lasted 3.2 innings and gave up seven runs on six hits. Jon Hunton notched the save (10) pitching a scoreless final frame.
