Age wise, I am a senior citizen although I don’t consider myself one. Until a series of physical ailments began to negatively impact my life. Then I had to leave my home and life in Maryland and move to New Jersey to live with my son.
With so many changes, I started to become a shut in person and moving away from that active person I was so proud to be. It wasn’t until my son found the Quail Brook Senior Center for that I saw this as a way to get out of the house. Also, since I no longer drive, Somerset Transportation is such a blessing because I get rides to all my medical appointments and even food shopping!
Now, I have my energy back which gets me up in the morning and out the door to go to the center and meet the friends I’ve made. These new friendships, educational programs, health screening and exercise classes have expanded my social life and helped me lose weight for better health! I also feel like part of my family when I can share and talk about what I’ve learned at the Quail Brook Senior Center.
I highly recommend anyone who feels stuck at home to pick up the phone, join the Quail Brook Senior Center and get living.
