A 22-year-old New Brunswick man was arrested Dec. 8 on weapons-related charges after a traffic stop in the township.
Najee Croom of Wright Street was a passenger in a car that was stopped at the corner of Hamilton Street and Millstone Road, according to a press release from the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office.
Police saw a 1998 Ford Taurus driving down Norma Avenue at about 10:48 p.m. without its lights on, according to the release. The car was pulled over, after which it was discovered that Croom, a passenger in the car, was wanted on a municipal court warrant from North Brunswick.
Police searched Croom and found a Walther 9mm handgun tucked inside his waistband, according to the release. The gun was loaded with hollow point bullets.
Croom was charged with 2nd Degree Possession of a Handgun and 4th Degree Possession of Hollow Point Ammunition.
Croom is being held in the Somerset County jail, Somerville.
