Boy Scout Troop 154, sponsored by the Franklin Township PBA Local 154, welcomed its newest Eagle Scout Feb. 8 with a traditional Court of Honor at the Franklin Township Community Senior Center.
Receiving the accolades of his troop leaders, fellow scouts, parents and dignitaries was Joey Richter, a sophomore at Franklin Township High School. Richter’s father, Ron, is a business teacher at the school.
Every Eagle Scout candidate must carry out a public service project, Richter’s was the renovation of the John P. Grosso picnic grove behind the community senior center.
“I feel privileged that I’m an Eagle Scout,” Richter said after the ceremony. “Only 3-4 percent of scouts make it.”
He said attaining Eagle Scout means he “has leadership qualities” that will help him in college.
