Update: Cox pleaded guilty to charges of kidnapping and aggravated sexual assault, according to a published report. Cox in October will be sentenced to 23 years in prison, must register as a Meagan’s Law offender and faces parole for life, according to the report in the Highland Park Planet.

A township man was wounded and another arrested on gun related charges in separate incidents over the Memorial Day Weekend. In total, there were three incidents involving guns over the weekend, according to a press release from the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office.

An 81-year-old township woman was killed May 28 after she was struck by a car while crossing a road, police said. Police said Ernestine Register, 81, of Franklin Park was struck by a car driven by Kylie Fisher, also of Franklin Park, while Register was crossing Ten Mile Run Boulevard.

A 31-year-old Whittier Avenue resident was charged May 25 with the sexual assault of a 4-year-old in a township store. David Lutz was charged with 2nd Degree Sexual Assault and 3rd Degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child after the incident, according to a press release from the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office.

A Bound Brook man faces several weapons-related charges after he was allegedly found with a 45-caliber handgun and hollow-nose bullets.
