A 41-year-old Willingboro man was charged April 4 with stealing $9,300 worth of lottery tickets from an Easton Avenue convenience store. Police were called to the store shortly after 8 a.m. on March 14. The investigation determined that someone broke the store’s glass door the night before and gained entry into the business.

A 61-year-old Highland Park man was arrested March 26 for attempted murder and other charges related to the stabbing of a New Brunswick resident on Hamilton Street. Police received a call shortly after 8 p.m. March 24 from employees at an unnamed hospital, reporting that a patient told them they had been stabbed on Hamilton Street.

A township resident was scammed out of more than $600,000 earlier this month, police said. The resident, who was not named, told police on March 6 that he received a phone call, ostensibly from the Franklin Township Police Department, from a person who described himself as a U.S. Customs Agent.

Police have arrested a second person in the 2023 murder of a 46-year-old township man. The man, a 44-year-old Brooklyn, N.Y. resident, was arrested on March 12 in Philadelphia, Pa. by Philadelphia police, according to a press release from the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office.

MAJOR BLAZE – More than 100 firefighters from 10 towns responded to a March 1 fire at Willow Creek Rehabilitation and Care Center. One firefighter was injured March 1 in a fire at Willow Creek Rehabilitation and Care Center on Easton Avenue. More than 100 firefighters from 10 towns fought the blaze of the unoccupied building.

Fire officials are investigating the cause of a February 29 blaze in an Ambrose Street home that displaced its residents. There were no reported injuries in the fire, according to a press release from the Franklin Township Police Department.

A 28-year-old township man was arrested late last year after he was allegedly found with more than 1,000 videos and photos of child pornography, the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office announced on January 26. The man was arrested on December 12, 2023, after he was located in Manville, according to a press release from the Prosecutor’s Office.
