Beagles were on the minds of a group of people who gathered June 18 at the Canal Road home of Mayor Phillip Kramer and his wife, Laurie. The couple hosted their annual “Beagle Fest,” where owners of rescued beagles get together for a picnic and to give their dogs some play time.

Franklin Township residents were on parade June 18 during Franklin Day at TD Bank Ballpark in Bridgewater. Township school children and their parents were able to stroll around the perimeter of the park, prior to the Somerset Patriots’ game against the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs.

Township officials and staff were on hand June 17 to witness the lowering of the American flag to half-staff, in memory of the victims of the Orlando mass shooting. Mayor Phillip Kramer, Township Councilwoman Roz Sherman (D-Ward 2) and Township Councilman Charles Onyejiaka (D-Ward 3) were joined by township manager Robert Vornlocker and several residents for the short ceremony.

Bridgewater, NJ – The Somerset Patriots (31-23) shut out the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs (19-33) 7-0 before a season-high 8,071 fans at TD Bank Ballpark on Friday evening.  

For the third consecutive time, a Franklin Middle School student has finished first in the state and top five nationally in a financial literacy competition. Bryce Gray, a 7th grader, took top state honors for middle schools in the SIFMA Foundation’s Stock Market Game essay component – called InvestWrite – and finished fourth nationally.

A group of Franklin Middle School students were surprised June 16 when they walked into the school cafeteria. There, lined up against a wall, were 10 brand new bicycles.
