Pillar College welcomed the community on Feb. 23 in its first open house. About 60 people visited the evangelical college, located on Apgar Road, during the event.

Authorities are investigating information received by township police Feb. 23 which prompted an increased police presence at Franklin High School. The matter is the subject of an “ongoing juvenile investigation” by the FTPD and Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office detectives, SCPO spokesman Jack Bennett said in an email. “No additional information to be released at this time.”

Additional Franklin Township Police Officers have been deployed to the district’s elementary schools as part of a new “School Security Initiative” announced on Feb. 22. The program is effective now, said FTPD spokesman Phil Rizzo.
