A New York woman faces a prostitution charge after she was busted in an Easton Avenue massage parlor propositioning an undercover detective. Township police are looking for witnesses to an Aug. 22 accident at Easton Avenue and John F. Kennedy Boulevard that left a 19-year-old township woman with serious injuries. Police said that at around noon, Jada Montrese Vennie was crossing Easton Avenue on foot when she was struck by a 2017 Hyundai Sonata driven by Christian James, 20, of Somerset.

Bridgewater, NJ- The Sugar Land Skeeters (28-12, 69-34) defeated the Somerset Patriots (22-19, 57-47) 9-7 at TD Bank Ballpark on Wednesday evening. The Skeeters took a 1-0 lead in the top of the third inning on an RBI single by Derek Morris.

The $52 million Delaware & Raritan Canal dredging project is underway. The entire project is expected to take four years, although actual dredging will occur in 2018, 2019 and 2020, according to the New Jersey Water Supply Authority’s web site on the project.

The Colonial Park spray park’s construction site should not impact the Franklin Day festival in September, a township official said. The spray park is being built on a 1.6-acre parcel next to the playground off Colonial Drive. The festival, which has drawn more than 20,000 visitors, is adjacent to the construction area.

A 43-year-old township man was charged Aug. 15 with receiving stolen property after he was allegedly seen with a stolen commercial trailer generator valued at more than $140,000. Aaron Taylor-Fajardo of Hunt Road was charged with 3rd Degree Receiving Stolen Property after he was spotted by police with the generator in the Somerset Village parking lot on Easton Avenue.
