June 30

Omola Akande of Somerset was cited for failure to stop after her car collided with one driven on Clyde Road by James Miller of Milford. Akande was making a left turn from Bennetts Lane to Clyde Road when the accident happened.

Dana Schmierer of Manalapan was cited for careless driving  after her car collided with a bicyclist, Deborah Drury of Somerset, at Elizabeth Avenue and Schoolhouse Road. Schmierer said she did not see Drury as she was making a turn from Elizabeth.

July 1

Daniel Chen of Livingston was cited for failure to observe a traffic signal after his car collided with one driven by Venkata Draksharan of Iselin at the intersection of Amwell and South Middlebush roads. Chen said he saw no cars coming toward him and decided to make a left turn from Amwell. Draksharan had the green light, police said.

July 2

A Hewlitt-Packard desktop computer valued at $600 was stolen from a Hempstead Drive resident. The resident told police she arrived home from work at about 4 p.m. and saw the upstairs sliding glass door was open. She went into the apartment and saw that her son’s computer was stolen, and the apartment had been ransacked.

A package containing foam car seats was stolen from the porch of a Kossuth Street resident. The resident said he was told by FedEx that the package had been delivered earlier that afternoon.

Lori Haman of Princeton was cited for careless driving, leaving the scene of an accident and failure to report an accident after the car she was driving rear-ended one on Route 27, driven by Patel Hrutvikku of Somerset. Haman said she did not think she had hit the other car.

July 4

A man renting a room in a Phillips Road home reported that a fan that he’d placed on a chair in his bedroom caught on fire, igniting the chair. The man told police that he’d grabbed the chair, took it outside and extinguished the fire.

Gilbert Reid of New Brunswick was cited for careless driving and Collechia Wilson of Highland Park was cited for driving without her seat belt after the two were involved in a collision on Baier Avenue. Reid was turning left from Baier to Park Street when his car was struck by Wilson’s.

July 5

Gomana Qaqish of Carteret was cited for careless driving after her car struck a parked car on Hamilton Street, owned by Andre Pierrejac of Cherry Hill.

July 6

Someone smashed the windshield on a 2007 Nissan Altima while it was parked on Mustang Trail.

§

An Apple iPad valued at $400 was stolen from a Hillcrest Avenue home.

§

An Apple watch value at $400 and $50 in cash was stolen from a room in a Davidson Avenue hotel. The room’s door was no locked.

§

Casey Shamy of Monmouth Junction told police she was driving on South Middlebush Road when she became distracted and looked away from the road. Her car collided with one driven by Ashley Jankowski of Somerset.

§

Cars driven by Ramesh Ramarathnam and Pamela Wentzheimer, both of Somerset, collided while they were being backed out of their respective parking spaces on Taylor Drive.

§

Balaji Mariyappan of North Brunswick was cited for careless driving after his car collided with one driven on Amwell Road by Gabriella Wilhalme of Somerset. Wilhalme said she was pulling into her driveway when her car was hit.
