On Gazebo Ribbon Cutting Day I wish to thank all the many wonderful people in Franklin Township and beyond who generously supported the vision and dream of a performing arts gazebo in Franklin on the municipal complex.
I want to personally thank my side by side partners John Felix and Michael Steinbruck for their unwavering support during the past 12 months. Mayor and Council and Bob Vornlocker offered positive and moral support at each juncture. I must mention that in a time of need in order to meet our fund raising goals, I reached out to our Assemblyman Joe Danielsen, District 17 and in Joe’s usual fashion he came to our assistance and personally raised close to $10,000 which is a major effort and contribution to our efforts.
It is difficult to describe the outpouring of monetary and especially in-kind donations from many contractors and suppliers. Many are depicted on the beautiful plaque at the gazebo. Some came after the plaque was printed and there will be a second plaque as we begin Phase 2 to provide for finishing touches and technical and seasonal installatiion.
We look forward to the Weddings to be celebrated on the gazebo, the photos on Senior Prom Day, the children’s play and reading clubs, the students from SGS Middle School walking to theatrical learning experiences, Senior Citizens just relaxing and best of all a summer concert series that I know John and Michael will provide through our friends at the Franklin Township Cultural Arts Council.
A special thank you to the East Millstone Historical Society for acting as the gatekeeper of all the fund raising through their non-profit status.
Someone asked me “Will the Gazebo be used”?? Only you the citizens of Franklin Township can answer that question.
Franklin my “Lawn Chair” and favorite cup of coffee are waiting to join you!!!!
