Franklin Woman’s Club Sets Annual Afternoon Tea

Submitted by Angela Dubivsky.

Are you a woman, age 18 or above in search of opportunities to share and/or develop your talents and skills to make a difference in your community and to make new friends in the process?  If so, please accept an invitation to the annual Franklin Woman’s Club Meet and Greet Afternoon Tea to be held 2 p.m. Sunday, September 10.

The event is FREE. Those wishing to attend should contact Kecia Baptist, Membership Chair, at FWCmembershipinfo@gmail.com who will issue the invitation with location information.

The Franklin Woman’s Club (FWC), part of the General and New Jersey State Federations of Women’s Clubs, is a nonprofit, nonpartisan and nonsectarian service organization committed to improving the community through volunteerism. In particular, the FWC raises funds for such things as women’s scholarships, children’s immunizations, Habitat for Humanity, Prevention of Domestic Violence and the Animal Shelter and performs volunteer service to support entities like the Ronald McDonald House, Food Pantry, local long term care facilities and the Purple Hat Campaign to fight child abuse in NJ.

Annually, the club selects a project to promote conservation as seen in the 2017 donation of a tree to Franklin High School, draws awareness to local legislative issues at monthly meetings or may propose new legislation through the state branch of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs.

In addition to community initiatives, the Franklin Woman’s Club also features frequent social and educational events for enrichment such as monthly book club meetings, house tours, holiday events and more.

FWC meetings are held at Franklin High School, 500 Elizabeth Ave. at 7 p.m. on the second Tuesday of the Month between September and May  with special meetings held at alternate locations.  The first meeting of the season is scheduled for September 12, 2017.

Meetings include an educational or entertainment segment, followed by a discussion of current and future plans and projects, plus refreshments.

Women interested in checking a meeting location, learning more about the club and its special leadership opportunities and/or becoming a member may visit www.franklinwomansclub.webs.com or can email inquiries to: franklinwomansclub@gmail.com.
