Will Kengor Delivers Game-Winning Walk-Off Single For Patriots

Bridgewater, NJ – The Somerset Patriots (16-9) defeated the Sugar Land Skeeters (17-10) 3-2 in 11 innings at TD Bank Ballpark on Wednesday evening.

Tied up at 2-2 going into the bottom of the 11th inning, Will Kengor drove home the game-winning run with an RBI single.

“I was just looking for a pitch to hit,” Kengor said. “It was a second pitch fastball away and I just put the barrel on it. The shortstop was nowhere to be found and I found a hole.”

The Skeeters took a 1-0 lead in the top of the third inning on an RBI single by Jared Mitchell.

The Patriots answered with a run of their own in the bottom of the frame on an RBI base hit by Edwin Espinal that tied up the game.

A bases loaded walk to Ryan Jackson in the top of the tenth inning gave Sugar Land a 2-1 advantage.

The Patriots tied it up again in the bottom of the tenth inning on a ground-rule RBI double by Craig Massey.

Zech Zinicola (2-1) picked up the win with a scoreless inning pitched. Mark Lowe (1-1) suffered the loss, allowing two unearned runs on two hits in an inning-plus pitched.
