Updated: SGS Players Extend ‘Lion King Jr.’ Run By One Weekend

Update: The Sampson G. Smith Players have extended its run of “The Lion King, Jr.” by one weekend.

Performances will be held at 7 p.m. on Feb. 12 and 13 at the school. Tickets are $8.

Original Story: If you want to see the Sampson G. Smith Players’ production of “Lion King Jr.,” you’d better get your tickets now.

The troupe’s first weekend – Jan. 29-31 – is already sold out. Tickets still remain for the final weekend, Feb. 5-7.

Lion King Jr. is an adaptation of the Disney classic production, which tells the coming-of-age story of Simba, the lion cub heir to throne of King Musafa of the Pridelands. The story follows Simba through his life of estrangement, and eventual acceptance, of the throne.

Show times are 7 p.m. Jan. 29 and 30 and Feb. 5 and 6, and 2 p.m. Jan. 31 and Feb. 7.
